Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign recently released a new ad targeting Black men. The ad suggests that Black men could face rejection in their dating lives if they don’t vote. However, the ad has stirred significant controversy online.

The Ad’s Content and Message

In the ad, which is set like a fictional dating show, a Black man answers questions from women holding balloons. They ask about his height, income, and fitness. Initially, the women react positively. However, when one of them asks if he plans to vote, and he replies, “Nah, not my thing,” all the women pop their balloons in response. The ad then ends with the message, “Vote. Election Day is Nov 5,” along with the Harris-Walz campaign logo.

Mixed Reactions to the Advertisement

While some people found the ad memorable, others were less impressed. Richard Hanania, President of the Center for the Study of Partisanship and Ideology, remarked, “New Harris/Walz ad tells Black men that women will reject them if they don’t vote. Memorable and works as an appeal to self-interest.”
