Recent media coverage indicates that illegal immigrants who previously maintained employment at Trump National Golf Club are now fired.

An Overview of the Fired Illegal Immigrants

Last month, the New York Times published a piece about illegal immigrants who worked for President Trump at his National Golf Club. Shortly after the publication of the aforementioned piece, the Trump Organization stated that employees which have submitted false documents will face immediate dismissal from the job. It appears that the Trump Organization meant what they said.

An executive for the Trump golf club informed illegal immigrant workers that the business is "[ending] its employment relationship." The employees who are not in the country legally expressed their concerns and disappointment with the decision.

Gabriel Sedano, an illegal immigrant who performed maintenance services, informed The Washington Post of his appeal to the Trump National Golf Club.

"I started to cry [and] told them they needed to consider us. I worked almost 15 years for them in this club and given the best of myself to this job."

However, the Trump National Golf Club is firmly standing by their decision. Eric Trump, the president's second eldest son, stated via email that the business will not tolerate illegal immigrant employees.

"We are making a broad effort to identify any employee who has given false and fraudulent documents to unlawfully gain employment. Where identified, any individual will [face immediate termination.]"

The news about the fired illegal immigrant employees comes at a critical time in this nation. At this time, President Trump and Democratic leaders are currently sparring with each other over immigration and border security. While the president maintains that a wall at the Southern border is imperative, Democratic leaders disagree. Furthermore, Democrats continue to affirm their resistance against providing funding for the president's border wall.

On Friday, the government reopened after the longest shutdown in American history. President Trump and the Democrats now have 21 days to reach a resolution on border security. Furthermore, Americans on both sides of the aisle have various ideas on illegal immigration and the proper steps needed to enforce border security.

When President Trump ran for office, restoring American jobs served as a centerpiece of his campaign. Last month's report of illegal immigrants working at the Trump National Golf Club attracted criticism from the president's detractors. Thus far, neither Trump nor the White House has released public statements about the termination of illegal immigrant employees.

Roughly 12 workers who are also illegal immigrants are no employed by the Trump National Golf Course.
