During the 2024 GOP primary, former UN ambassador Nikki Haley picked up a considerable amount of the anti-Trump vote. Republicans who've grown tired of the former president and his controversies largely rallied around Haley in the hopes she'd become their party's nominee.

Their hopes did not come to fruition. In fact, months after dropping out of the Republican primary, the ex-UN ambassador wholeheartedly endorsed her former rival. Though many of Haley's voters aren't following suit. Instead, they're throwing support behind Vice President Kamala Harris as she works to win the November election.

Any presidential contender who triumphs can only do so with crossover support. It is not enough to only get votes from the party with which one is registered. For this reason, former Haley voters could be a pivotal factor that takes Harris across the finish line in November.

Haley Voters For Harris

Across social media, Haley Voters For Harris is perhaps one of the most prominent anti-Trump groups that's now backing the vice president. During talks with the media, campaign director Craig Snyder provided insight into why certain Haley supporters are crossing party lines in this year's presidential race.

According to Snyder, the vote for Haley during the Republican primary was about trying to shift the party away from Trump. Yet, since the GOP ultimately nominated the 45th president for a third time, Harris is the favorite in a race pitting her against Trump.

Many former Haley supporters are in pivotal swing states that will determine the outcome of this race. While some of these folks hold political disagreements with Harris, they see common ground with her on issues like preserving democracy, respecting election outcomes, and "fundamental moral values."

Harris campaign welcoming Republican support

The vice president's campaign has made clear in no uncertain terms that their doors are open to Haley voters and other anti-Trump GOP members. Just earlier this month, the team kicked off "Republicans for Harris," an initiative designed to earn the support of these voters.

Austin Weatherford, working as the Harris campaign's GOP national outreach director, stated "millions" of Republicans no longer feel represented by Trump. Weatherford also stressed the vice president's commitment to building rapport with Americans who believe in prioritizing "country over party."
