During the 2024 GOP primary, former UN ambassador Nikki Haley picked up a considerable amount of the anti-Trump vote. Republicans who’ve grown tired of the former president and his controversies largely rallied around Haley in the hopes she’d become their party’s nominee.
Their hopes did not come to fruition. In fact, months after dropping out of the Republican primary, the ex-UN ambassador wholeheartedly endorsed her former rival. Though many of Haley’s voters aren’t following suit. Instead, they’re throwing support behind Vice President Kamala Harris as she works to win the November election.
Any presidential contender who triumphs can only do so with crossover support. It is not enough to only get votes from the party with which one is registered. For this reason, former Haley voters could be a pivotal factor that takes Harris across the finish line in November.
