To the surprise of many people, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi expressed opposition towards impeaching President Trump, as reported by Politico.

A Closer Look...

Earlier today, CNN asked Pelosi whether or not Democrats will attempt to impeach President Trump if they regain control of the House of Representatives in 2018. Her response reads as follows:

"It's not someplace that I think we should go."

However, Pelosi noted a potential shift in her aforementioned impeachment views if evidence of Russian election meddling is found.

Furthermore, Pelosi's focus seems more geared towards policy issues. This somewhat contrasts with outspoken Democrats who have called for the President's impeachment. Additional sources assert Pelosi's criticism of a recent ad engendered by liberal billionaire Tom Steyer which advocated for the impeachment of President Trump.

What Merits Impeachment?

In America, the only legal grounds for impeaching a President are as follows: treason, bribery, high crime, or other misdemeanors. So far, President Trump has not committed any of the aforementioned crimes.

Conservatives have also been highly critical of Democrats calling for President Trump's impeachment. Many feel as though left wingers are prioritizing their personal feelings over the laws which exist in this nation. Moreover, conservatives have factually stated that merely disliking the President does not merit his impeachment.
