To the surprise of many people, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi expressed opposition towards impeaching President Trump, as reported by Politico.
A Closer Look…
Earlier today, CNN asked Pelosi whether or not Democrats will attempt to impeach President Trump if they regain control of the House of Representatives in 2018. Her response reads as follows:
“It’s not someplace that I think we should go.”
However, Pelosi noted a potential shift in her aforementioned impeachment views if evidence of Russian election meddling is found.
Furthermore, Pelosi’s focus seems more geared towards policy issues. This somewhat contrasts with outspoken Democrats who have called for the President’s impeachment. Additional sources assert Pelosi’s criticism of a recent ad engendered by liberal billionaire Tom Steyer which advocated for the impeachment of President Trump.
