New England Serial Killer

Speculation about the existence of a New England serial killer is rapidly gaining traction online. A private Facebook group titled “New England Serial Killer” has become a central hub for the growing conversation.

According to a report from MassLive, the group has ballooned to more than 57,000 members, gaining over 10,000 new members in just the past week.

Web sleuths are convinced that a serial killer is active in New England.

A Viral Theory Gains Momentum Online

Interest in the topic has also surged beyond Facebook. Google searches for "New England serial killer" spiked around April 7, showing a clear public fascination and concern about the possibility of a connected series of crimes.

Human Remains Discovered in Multiple Locations

The speculation appears to stem from several recent discoveries of human remains across Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island between March and April. The identified locations include:

  • New Haven, Groton, Killingly, and Norwalk, Connecticut
  • Framingham and Plymouth, Massachusetts
  • Foster, Rhode Island

Authorities have identified three of the victims so far:

  • Denise Leary, 59, of New Haven, whose remains were found on March 21
  • Paige Fannon, 35, of West Islip, New York, found in the Norwalk River on March 6
  • Michele Romano, 56, whose remains were discovered in Foster, Rhode Island; she had been missing since August 2024.

Police have not released the victims' cause of death. And at least 4 victims found are still unidentified.

Police Urge Deny Cases are Connected

Despite the growing public theories, law enforcement officials have yet to establish a connection between the cases. In a statement to Fox News Digital, Connecticut State Police said:

“There is no information at this time suggesting any connection to similar remains discoveries, and there is also no known threat to the public at this time.”

Additionally, CTSP confirmed a separate incident in Killingly, Connecticut, where troopers responded to the discovery of human remains on April 9. These remains have not yet been identified.

Police in Groton, Connecticut—a town known for its Naval submarine base—also found what they believe to be the remains of an adult female on March 19. The woman is believed to be between 40 and 60 years old and may have had Turner syndrome.

“Individuals with Turner syndrome often display physical characteristics such as short stature, broad chest, short, wide neck, and small chin,” Groton police said.

On April 10, firefighters discovered additional remains near the Massachusetts Turnpike in Framingham, which investigators believe may have been there for several months.

Podcast Host and Crime Survivor Adds to the Buzz

Jane Boroski, a survivor of the Connecticut River Valley killer and host of the true crime podcast “Invisible Tears”, is also contributing to the conversation. She posted a video discussing the possible presence of a serial killer in New England:

“There are just too many unanswered questions,” Boroski said, adding her voice to the growing number of people questioning whether the remains could be linked.

Geographic Closeness Fuels the Theory of New England Serial Killer

The proximity of some of the discovery sites—particularly Foster, Rhode Island, and Killingly, Connecticut—has added fuel to the theory. Members of the Facebook group and users on platforms like TikTok and X continue to analyze timelines, locations, and the victims’ backgrounds to spot patterns.

However, police emphasize that just because the remains were found in a short two-month span does not mean the victims all died within that time frame.
