To say that Republicans and Democrats have extremely different outlooks on immigration and the enforcement of legal immigration is a massive understatement. The contrast in perception manifested yet again last night.

House Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took to her Instagram Live last night. During this time, the congresswoman articulated her views on the situation at the Southern border. Her statements have raised many eyebrows and keeping with the current political dynamics, the majority of conservatives are certainly not in agreement with her latest remarks.

A Closer Look at AOC’s Remarks on Immigration Laws

When speaking on her livestream, Ocasio-Cortez bemoaned the situation at the Southern border. Now, many individuals on the right-wing have expressed their concerns regarding illegal immigration and the subsequent resource strain which Customs Border and Patrol (CBP) officials experience. Ocasio-Cortez, however, had a very different take.

On her livestream, the congresswoman accused the United States government of “running concentration camps.” To be very clear, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez believes that apprehending individuals who unlawfully enter America is tantamount to rounding up individuals in concentration camps for the purposes of torture and execution.

See for yourself:

Despite partisanship, it is important for Americans to know that there are no concentration camps on the Southern border. Likening the enforcement of immigration laws to a monstrosity such as the Holocaust is a reach which many individuals can view as offensive.

Cracking Down on Illegal Immigration

The congresswoman’s statements about concentration camps at the Southern border arrived at an interesting time. Last night, President Trump himself also took to social media to share some details regarding immigration. However, unlike Ocasio-Cortez, the president announced additional measures which will follow in order to crack down on illegal immigration.

To be precise, Trump declared that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) will commence the deportations of “millions” of illegal immigrants starting next week.

In the president’s own words:

Similarly to Ocasio-Cortez’s claims about concentration camps, the president’s announcement about forthcoming immigration measures is already making headlines. Thus far, Americans have not received briefings on exactly how “millions” of illegal immigrants will face deportation.

Likewise, ICE has yet to release an official statement.
