Google finds itself embroiled in a storm of controversy following the dismissal of several employees who protested the company’s involvement in “Project Nimbus,” a 1.2-billion-dollar contract with Israel.

On Tuesday tensions reached a boiling point as Google employees staged protests at the company’s campuses in New York City and Sunnyvale, California, home to Google Cloud headquarters.

Nine of the protesting employees were arrested on Tuesday night. The next day the tech giant fired 28 employees.

Google Arrests

After the protests and arrests Chris Rackow, Google’s vice president for global security sent a company-wide email to all employees.

The email claimed the protesters “took over office spaces, defaced our property and physically impeded the work of other Googlers. Their behavior was unacceptable, extremely disruptive, and made co-workers feel threatened.”
