Republican Meg Whitman Supports Antonio Villaraigosa for California Governor

In response, Luis Vizcaino, the spokesman for Villaraigosa explained that Whitman is “participating in a broad-based Silicon Valley event with many supporters. He added that they are “organizing a campaign that unites all Californians who agree that we need to grow our economy to create more middle-class jobs.”

Meanwhile, the latest polls show that Lt. Gov. Newsom is leading the governor’s race. Republican John Cox and Villaraigosa are competing in the second spot.

The survey from the Public Policy Institute of California showed that 25% of likely voters support Newsom, 19% favor Cox, and 15% back Villaraigosa.

A separate poll from the University of Southern California and the Los Angeles Times indicated that Newsom has the support of 21% of voters. Cox and Villaraigosa have 11% and 10%, respectively.
