Similarly to Scalise’s baseball game shooting, many Democrats touted the tragedy as a reason for gun control. Others expressed disagreements, noting the gun used by the shooter was already illegal. The debate over the Second Amendment still persists to this day. However, Scalise’s position is quite clear.
