T-Mobile US Inc (NASDAQ: TMUS) is giving a one-year subscription of Apple TV+ for free to its new and existing customers.

According to the telecommunications company, new and existing Magenta and Magenta Max customers as well as Sprint Unlimited Plus, Sprint Premium, and small T-Mobile for Business customers can start redeeming the one-year free Apple TV+ on August 25.

Magenta, Magenta MAX, and small T-Mobile for Business customers must log in to the T-Mobile app or my.t-mobile.com to redeem the freebie.  On the other hand, Sprint Unlimited Plus and Premium customers must visit and log in to T-Mobile's Redemption Center and enter the promo code 2021APPLETVP1. Those who already have a subscription or ongoing trial may still redeem the free Apple TV+ from T-Mobile.

In a statement,  Jon Freier, EVP of Consumer Group at T-Mobile said their customers love streaming. He noted that streaming is the #1 use of the company's network with more than 50 percent of overall traffic.  He said, "So of course, we’re expanding options for customers – bringing them the award-winning Apple TV+ for 12 months free..."

On other hand, Peter Stem, VP of Services at Apple, commented, “T-Mobile customers can now enjoy Apple TV+ for a full year, and watch right in the Apple TV app across all their favorite devices. Apple TV+ has the highest-rated originals of any streaming service, so we are excited that millions of T-Mobile customers will be able to take advantage of this offer.”

T-Mobile providing free two years of identity protection services due to  data breach

The freebie comes as T-Mobile is dealing with a massive data breach that affected millions of its customers.

Based on the telecommunication company's preliminary investigation, the hackers stole the information of its approximately 7.8 million current T-Mobile postpaid customers and around 850,000 active T-Mobile prepaid customers.

The hackers also stole the data of over 40 million former and prospective customers who previously applied for credit with the telecommunications company.

T-Mobile said the customers'  phone numbers, account numbers, PINs, passwords, or financial information were not compromised. The telecommunications company immediately took steps to help protect all of the individuals affected by the data breach. It is providing two years of free identity protection services with McAfee’s ID Theft Protection Service.
