Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool ChatGPT had its public launch in the first week of December 2022. And it immediately went viral. It is already being called a game-changer for the tech marketplace. And some technology experts claim that it may even replace Google.

The amazing conversational bot is filtered through massive databases. And it is programmed to respond to user questions, as well as provide content creation.

This Open AI tool is capable to answer complex questions including, math equations, essays, and legal briefs. And it even writes computer code.

It has also been reported to create malware and ransomware that can be used by hackers.

We’ve heard of the challenges artificial intelligence poses for industries for years. Now, with the announcement that Microsoft is partnering with OpenAI technology experts claim it is a threat to white-collar workers and specifically to the tech industry.

New York City recently banned ChatGPT in all its schools because they fear the AI tool raises the possibility of cheating.

Microsoft partners with AI

According to Silicon Valley insiders, Microsoft’s extended partnership with the ChatGPT-designer could prove to be an excellent investment. Some people think replace Google.

Last week Microsoft announced that its pouring billions into Open AI through its extended partnership with ChatGPT. And that it will enhance AI research and democratize it as a technology platform. 

There are rumors that ChatGPT is slated to be the new enhanced Bing. This is the web search engine owned and operated by Microsoft. And insiders believe that the combined technology could far surpass Google.

Prior to the partnership announcement Microsoft cut 10,000 jobs from its platform. 

Technology experts 

Hudson Institute senior fellow Arthur Herman warns that OpenAI’s program, ChatGPT could push the country into a "different kind of credential society."

The tech sector has already been experiencing unprecedented layoffs following its hiring spree during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Herman says that speculation about Open AI replacing Google may already be under consideration by Google’s parent company Alphabet which just laid off 12,000 workers.

Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai said that cuts at Google affect teams globally, including recruiting, some corporate functions as well as some engineering and products teams. 

"If you're a lawyer, if you're an accountant, if you're a financial planner, you might want to look to your laurels because there may be a program coming, an AI-generated program that's going to be able to do jobs just like yours," Herman said.

Waze co-founder Uri Levine says that artificial intelligence chatbot ChatGPT is very likely going to have “more value than damage.”  

Herman said that the current layoffs are a response to "chances of a coming recession."  And also, there is speculation that the coming AI revolution will require fewer workers in tech.

"In fact, the machines are, you know, a little bit more reliable. They're happy to work on weekends, [and] a whole range of other things that are going to be very tough for America's white-collar workforce," Herman added.
