Rapper Young Thug, born Jeffery Lamar Williams, is a free man after spending nearly two and a half years in custody due to gang, drug, and gun charges.
The artist, known for his high-energy performances and distinct vocal style, was released Thursday evening after entering a guilty plea.
His release marks a pivotal moment in a lengthy legal ordeal plagued by delays and challenges. Jury selection alone took almost 10 months, beginning in January 2023 at the Fulton County Courthouse in Atlanta.
Since November, dozens of witnesses testified in the trial, which initially included six defendants.
