Hezbollah launched a rocket attack on northern Israel on Saturday, hitting areas near Haifa. They fired over 100 rockets from Lebanon. Hezbollah said their attack hit a military base east of Haifa. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed Hezbollah fired about 180 rockets. This came after Israel had killed several senior Hezbollah leaders in earlier strikes.

Hezbollah Steps Up Attacks

Backed by Iran, Hezbollah has recently increased its attacks on Israel. This happened after Israel’s military disrupted Hezbollah’s communication network and killed some of its top leaders, including Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and his replacement.

Israel’s Strike on Hamas Leader

Israel also hit Hamas hard by killing its leader, Yahya Sinwar. Sinwar planned the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel. After a year of searching, Israeli forces found him and killed him during a fight. They announced his death last Thursday.

Iran’s Response and “Axis of Resistance”

Hezbollah, Hamas, and other groups backed by Iran form the “Axis of Resistance,” which Iran uses to challenge Israel and the U.S. On Saturday, Iran’s leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, reacted to Sinwar’s death. He promised that the “Axis of Resistance” would continue.
