The legal war between Hollywood A-listers Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie has taken a dramatic new turn as the "Fight Club" actor makes an aggressive push to expose what he alleges was a calculated betrayal involving their prized French winery. Court documents obtained by USA Herald reveal Pitt is now seeking to compel depositions from multiple parties connected to his ex-wife's controversial sale of her Château Miraval stake, a move that could finally shed light on one of Hollywood's most contentious property disputes.

The $60 Million Dream Turned Legal Nightmare

The saga began in 2011 when the power couple, then at the height of their romance, purchased the sprawling 1,200-acre Château Miraval estate in the picturesque Provence region of France for approximately $60 million. The property, complete with its own winery and vineyards, represented more than just a business investment—it was where they exchanged vows in 2014 and created memories with their six children.

However, what started as a romantic venture has devolved into a bitter legal quagmire that has outlasted their marriage itself. Even after finalizing their divorce in December 2024—a process that stretched over eight grueling years—the former couple continues to clash over the winery's ownership and control.

Secret Negotiations Exposed in Court Filings

According to explosive court documents, Pitt's legal team has uncovered evidence of what they characterize as duplicitous conduct by Jolie during the sale process. The filings reveal that on March 30, 2021, a lawyer representing the Stoli Group contacted Jolie's California-based divorce attorney to inquire about purchasing her stake in the winery.

What followed, according to Pitt's allegations, was a carefully orchestrated deception. "Throughout May 2021, while Jolie was still purporting to negotiate with Pitt and Mark Perrin [Brad's partner in Miraval], Stoli and Jolie continued to negotiate in secret," the court filing states.

The documents further allege that Jolie's "transactional counsel" provided detailed feedback to Stoli negotiators, including insider information about "what it would take for Stoli to beat Pitt's offer." This intelligence, seemingly gleaned from ongoing discussions with Pitt, allegedly gave the Stoli Group an unfair advantage in securing the deal.

The $65 Million Blindside

The secret negotiations culminated in a $65 million agreement between Jolie and the Stoli Group—a price that was deliberately concealed from Pitt, according to his legal team. This alleged subterfuge denied Pitt the opportunity to match or exceed the offer, a right he claims was guaranteed under their original ownership agreement.

Pitt's lawsuit contends that Jolie was required to obtain his consent before selling her stake, an allegation that strikes at the heart of their ongoing dispute. The sale to Stoli Group was completed in 2021, triggering the legal battle that continues to rage today.

Depositions Target Key Players

In his latest legal maneuver, Pitt is seeking to compel depositions from Nouvel LLC, the company through which Jolie conducted the sale, as well as Tenute del Mondo, a subsidiary of the Stoli Group. These depositions are designed to uncover the full extent of the alleged secret negotiations and to obtain information about the parties' "subsequent financial contributions to the home and winery at the heart of this dispute."

Legal experts suggest these depositions could prove pivotal in determining whether Jolie violated the terms of her agreement with Pitt and whether the sale to Stoli Group was conducted in bad faith.

Contrasting Reactions to Divorce Settlement

The couple's divergent responses to their December 2024 divorce settlement reveal the emotional toll of their prolonged legal battle. Through her attorney James Simon, Jolie expressed profound relief at finally closing this chapter of her life.

"More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time, she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family," Simon stated. "Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over."

In stark contrast, Pitt adopted a more matter-of-fact approach when discussing the settlement with GQ Magazine. "No, I don't think it was that major of a thing," the 61-year-old actor remarked. "Just something coming to fruition. Legally."

Learning from Mistakes and Moving Forward

Despite the ongoing legal turmoil, Pitt has spoken candidly about personal growth and learning from past mistakes. At the premiere of his latest film "F1," he reflected on resilience and redemption. "No matter the mistake, you know, you just learn from [it] and move on," he told Entertainment Tonight. "It'll lead to the next success."

The actor has also emphasized the importance of surrounding himself with trusted loved ones during this challenging period. "At my age, I see how important it is to surround yourself with the people you know, the people you love, the people that love you back," he shared. "Friends, family, and that's it. From there, we get to go make things. It's a pretty simple, I think, equation."

The Stakes Beyond Money

While the financial implications of this dispute are substantial, the battle over Château Miraval represents more than just dollars and cents. For Pitt, the winery was a passion project that connected him to the land and the craft of winemaking. The property's rosé wine has garnered critical acclaim and commercial success, making it a valuable asset beyond its sentimental worth.

The outcome of this legal battle could set important precedents for how celebrity divorces handle complex business assets and the obligations former spouses have to each other in business dealings.

What Lies Ahead

As the depositions move forward, both parties will be compelled to provide testimony and documentation under oath, potentially revealing previously unknown details about the sale and the negotiations leading up to it. The case serves as a stark reminder that even after divorce papers are signed, the legal ramifications of high-stakes celebrity breakups can persist for years.

The Château Miraval dispute has become one of the most closely watched celebrity legal battles in recent memory, combining elements of business law, family law, and entertainment industry dynamics. As this saga continues to unfold, it will likely influence how future celebrity couples structure their business partnerships and protect their interests in the event of separation.
