Floyd Mayweather Launches Law Firm While His Own Court Battles Pile Up

Floyd Mayweather built an undefeated boxing legacy around a simple proposition: pressure, confidence, and victory. Now the former world champion is bringing that brand into the legal-services marketplace—at a moment when his own name remains tied to a growing list of criminal allegations, financial liabilities, judgments, and high-dollar civil disputes.

Mayweather’s new venture, The Money Team Legal Network, made its broader commercial launch on Aug. 27 after a reported soft launch in October 2025. The company promotes itself as a nationwide legal network driven by Mayweather’s “undefeated championship mentality.”

“50-0. Never lost. Never will. Now, I’m bringing that same energy to your corner,” Mayweather said on the company’s Instagram.

In a video aimed at prospective personal-injury clients, Mayweather delivers a direct sales pitch: “Car crash, personal injury victims, if you want to get paid, you need lawyers who fight.”

The network promises to connect clients with attorneys capable of obtaining “multi-million dollar settlements,” while advertising that there are no fees until clients recover money. That arrangement resembles the contingency-fee model commonly used in personal-injury litigation, though fee terms, attorney-client relationships, case strategy, and legal responsibilities ultimately depend on the individual lawyer and jurisdiction involved.

The branding is unmistakably Mayweather: legal representation packaged with the persona of a fighter who made “The Money Team” a global commercial identity. But the timing creates an unavoidable contrast. While Mayweather promotes lawyers who fight for victims, he is confronting legal battles of his own.

Felony Case Still Unresolved

Mayweather reportedly faces two felony charges in Las Vegas involving allegations that he used a $200,000 check to obtain a luxury watch from Gold and Beyond despite allegedly lacking sufficient funds in the account.

The allegations concern a check prosecutors say was written on Dec. 31, 2024. The criminal matter is expected to return to court in September. Mayweather has not been convicted, and the charges remain allegations that must be proven in court.

Through social media, Mayweather has pushed back on reports concerning his legal affairs, describing them as “lies and negative news.” Still, court cases, tax records, and reported civil disputes present a far more complicated picture than the polished certainty of an “undefeated” legal campaign.

Civil Claims and Financial Pressure

Among the most significant disputes is a lawsuit by CSI Entertainment, which is seeking $4.65 million in alleged advance payments connected to a reported two-fight agreement involving Mike Tyson and Manny Pacquiao. The dispute reportedly contributed to the cancellation of Mayweather’s planned June exhibition bout against Greek kickboxer Mike Zambidis.

Mayweather also faces an Internal Revenue Service lien exceeding $7.3 million for alleged unpaid federal taxes from 2018 and 2023. According to Business Insider, the lien was filed in Las Vegas and reflected an unpaid balance as of March 26. A tax lien is not a criminal conviction, but it allows the government to assert a legal claim against property until the underlying liability is resolved.

Another dispute stems from a judgment involving Nigerian media company Zinni Media Concept Limited. The company alleged that Mayweather accepted a $210,000 appearance fee for a 2017 promotional tour in Africa that never occurred. Zinni Media’s executive, Alex Nwankwo, said the company sued after unsuccessful efforts to recover the money, asserting breach of contract, unjust enrichment, and fraud.

A Los Angeles court ruled for Zinni Media, and an appeal was reportedly denied. The company’s attorneys have sought to reach Mayweather’s luxury vehicles to satisfy what has reportedly grown into a multimillion-dollar obligation.

Mayweather Also Plays Offense in Court

Mayweather is not merely defending claims. In May, he sued former business associates, alleging they engineered a fraud scheme that cost him more than $175 million. He is also pursuing a reported $340 million action against Showtime Networks and a former executive over alleged misappropriated funds tied to a 2013 pay-per-view deal. Showtime has denied those allegations.

Meanwhile, Mayweather’s $100 million defamation lawsuit against Business Insider was dismissed with prejudice, according to Front Office Sports, preventing the same claims from being refiled.

For consumers, the central question is not whether Mayweather can successfully market legal services. His global name recognition virtually guarantees attention. The more consequential question is whether a celebrity-driven network can clearly identify the attorneys responsible for each case, explain referral relationships, and ensure clients understand exactly who represents them.

Mayweather’s record inside the ring is permanent. His legal record outside it remains very much in motion.
