This past Monday, Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs was officially sworn into office. This happened after a gubernatorial election that came down to the wire last year.

Hobbs won the race by about 17,000 votes, despite failed Republican opponent Kari Lake alleging election fraud.

Each and every legal challenge Lake brought forward resulted in rejection by a judge, due to a lack of evidence. However, the Arizona Republican was ordered to pay a portion of the legal fees that Hobbs incurred amid Lake's baseless litigation.

Earlier today, Hobbs officially addressed the state of Arizona in her formal inaugural address.

What to know about Hobbs' inaugural address

At the Arizona State Capitol, the newly elected governor spoke about her vision for the state and how she plans to lead.

According to Hobbs, she remains committed to working with "every elected official" who is serious about making progress. This commitment from Hobbs comes as Arizona GOP members have narrow majorities in the state House and Senate.

Moreover, the Arizona governor declared that focusing on "conspiracy theories" won't lead anywhere.

Later during her inaugural address, Hobbs focused on different policy issues that she plans to tackle during her term in office. The newly elected governor cited abortion access, public school investments, and election security as matters that she will fight for.

Interestingly enough, Hobbs also declared the time has come to hold Washington DC (which is controlled by Democrats) responsible for the nation's fractured immigration system.

In late 2022, Hobbs also stated the Biden White House was not taking adequate action regarding the southern border.

Putting false rumors to bed

Many Americans have heard Kari Lake and some of her supporters make repeated allegations of voter fraud, accuse Hobbs of cheating in the Arizona governor's race, etc.

The reality is these claims are demonstrably false. Before Hobbs' swearing in, Lake brought her case and claims before the court. None of them panned out, due to a lack of evidence presented by Lake and her attorneys.

At the end of the day, Lake did not win the Arizona governor's election in 2022. She came close; though, ultimately, Katie Hobbs walked away with the win.

Hobbs secured more votes than Lake and therefore, Hobbs is the 24th governor of Arizona.
