Conservatives Raise Concerns about Alleged FBI Plant in Trump Campaign

Over the past few weeks, matters regarding the FBI, the Russia investigation, and the 2016 Trump campaign have surged in controversy. Therefore, some conservatives are expressing concerns that the FBI may have carefully placed a ‘plant’ within then-candidate Trump’s campaign as a means of spying on him, according to The Hill.

An Overview of the Aforementioned Theory

At this point, over one year has passed since the inception of the controversial Russia probe. Many Democrats and Trump critics allege that the investigation is warranted; they also believe the Trump campaign colluded with Russia in order to win the 2016 election However, the President and his administration have ongoingly denied the preceding allegations, moreover affirming their innocence.

Despite the ceaseless Russia probe, there still remains no evidence that Trump colluded with Russia. Nevertheless, the investigation continues which has raised many Republican eyebrows. Several members of the GOP even believe the FBI is now intentionally and actively working to frame the President. However, concerns extend beyond the aforementioned matter. Many conservatives are now questioning whether or not the FBI went as far as to plant a mole within the Trump campaign as a means of spying.

Republican leaders issued the following statements regarding the foregoing theory:

I think if the campaign was somehow set up, I think that would be a problem, right? If there were somehow meetings that occurred and all of this was a setup?

If they did this, if there was a plant, if there was a spy, if there was an informant put in the other party’s campaign during the election, that is as wrong as it gets.

One of the President’s lawyers also shared similar remarks:

I don’t know for sure, nor does the President, if there really was one. For a long time we [were] told there was some kind of infiltration. At one time, the President thought it was a wire tap.
