President Donald Trump previously announced that Morocco and Israel have finally reached an agreement to set full diplomatic ties, following the United Arab Emirates, Sudan, and Bahrain.

On Tuesday, White House senior adviser Jared Kushner together with the Israeli delegation established the normalization agreement between Israel and Morocco. In conjunction with that, the United States recognized Morocco’s claim over Western Sahara.

Kushner announced that the peace agreement isn’t the only thing that brought him there, but it’s also about signing a series of deals including aviation, visa, investments, and even water.

The “Abraham Accords” between Israel and Morocco is the fourth diplomatic pact brokered by Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser.

“The results are really what matters and I believe together we’ve achieved some historic results,” said Kushner.

"As this new Middle East moves forward, I hope that all countries will focus on pursuing common interests for the benefits of their citizens, instead of being held back by stale thinking and old conflicts,” Kushner added.

Pres. Trump promised that he will reshape the Middle East and this is what justifies the recurring visits to Arab countries— signing peace deals with Israel to end the political and diplomatic tension in the region.

Criticisms against the normalization deal

However, President-elect Joe Biden believed the deals could undermine U.S. national security. The Abraham Accords generated a lot of criticism from countries for sidelining the Palestinian war and U.S citizens opposing the generous arm sales to Arab countries.

Tunisian president “Kais Said”, also declared on Tuesday that “Tunisia isn’t concerned with the normalization with the occupying entity.” 

Morocco’s neighboring country Algerian news journals called the Tuesday flight “Plane of Shame”, while the “Normalization is Treason” hashtag jumped to first on trending on Twitter.

Many Algerian political analysts commented on "the Abraham agreement" between Israel and Morocco. They believe it's a response to the Algerian regime after the last declaration of the Algerian president ‘Abdelmajid Tebboun’ who said in September that the normalization with Israel is a shame to all Arabs and the Palestinian cause will always be very important to Algeria.

Morocco and Polisario Front conflict

The 16 years war between Morocco and Polisario Front resulted in 9,000 deaths, long before the United Nations imposed the 1991 cease-fire, which lasted 19 years before it was violated last month when Morocco attacked the Western Saharan army. The Polisario currently receives diplomatic support from neighboring country Algeria. The Israeli plane to Morocco didn’t fly over the Tunisian or Algerian skies and took a different path above the Mediterranean Sea instead.
