A peaceful high school graduation in Daly City turned violent Friday afternoon when a 15-year-old boy allegedly stabbed a 21-year-old man during a large fight outside Westmoor High School.

The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. as families and friends were celebrating the milestone. Police say the fight involved multiple people, and during the chaos, the teenager allegedly attacked the victim with a deadly weapon.

The 21-year-old was found at the scene with non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The suspect was quickly arrested, and the weapon was recovered.

According to the Jefferson Union High School District, the victim had no connection to the school or the graduation ceremony.

No other injuries were reported.

This disturbing incident casts a dark shadow over what should have been a joyful milestone for graduates and their families. While details about what sparked the fight remain limited, the fact that a 15-year-old is accused of bringing a weapon to a school celebration raises serious questions about youth violence and security at public events.

Daly City police acted swiftly to make an arrest, but the event serves as a sobering reminder that large gatherings — even celebratory ones — can quickly turn dangerous when conflicts spill into public spaces.

As the investigation continues, many in the community are left wondering how such violence could erupt so suddenly at a high school graduation and what steps can be taken to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
