In a shocking incident that sent waves of terror through a peaceful Halloween gathering for kids and parents. It is alleged that the off-duty Missouri cop fired a gun into the air and menacingly declared, "You are all going to die." 

This incident unfolded at a "Trunk-or-Treat" event held for elementary school children in Kirkwood, Missouri. Court documents reveal that hundreds of parents and children were present, looking forward to a joyous celebration.

The October 15th event unexpectedly became the scene of chaos.

Missouri Cop charged with felonies

Matthew McCulloch, a member of the St. Louis County Police Department, now stands accused of 11 felony counts, including endangering the welfare of children, unlawful use of a weapon, and making first-degree terrorist threats. 

The accused, Matthew McCulloch, is the son of former St. Louis County prosecuting attorney Bob McCulloch, adding a layer of complexity to this already unsettling incident. His wife had filed for divorce in March, and court records indicate that she currently resides in Kirkwood. 

In the days before his arrest McCulloch was said to have been behaving erratically. And is accused of threatening people in the community.

 He is currently in custody, with a bond review hearing scheduled for the near future. McCulloch's attorney, Brian Millikan, acknowledged the need for an “urgent mental health evaluation” and treatment for his client. 

In the wake of these allegations, the accused officer is claiming he is not guilty.

The St. Louis County Police Department, responsible for overseeing McCulloch's actions, has not yet commented on the incident. However, it has been disclosed that McCulloch has been suspended without pay, and an internal investigation is currently pending.

Chaotic events

According to court documents, McCulloch aggressively confronted multiple attendees at the Halloween party before escalating the situation into a violent encounter.

 Threats were made, a physical altercation ensued, and it culminated in McCulloch brandishing his firearm and badge, followed by a series of gunshots fired into the air. Onlookers disarmed and subdued him and held him for the police.

Witnesses claim that McCulloch was threatening their lives.

One parent, Corey Schonhorst, described the ordeal stating that McCulloch had a "menacing grin" as he fired the shots and awaited the crowd's reaction. 

The aftermath was nothing short of chaos, with children fleeing in terror, one child even running out of their shoes in sheer panic. Thankfully, the violence was quelled as multiple brave individuals tackled McCulloch and managed to disarm him.

Robert McCulloch, a former St. Louis County prosecuting attorney and father of the accused, expressed gratitude that no physical injuries occurred during the incident. 

He was also acutely aware of the emotional trauma that such an event could inflict on those present, especially the children and their parents. The Tillman Elementary School, for which the Halloween event was organized, had to cancel school the following day. 

They offered support to traumatized students by making counselors and social workers available.
