Iran Says Intelligence Chief Killed in Strike, as Trump Warns of ‘Hell’ Without Deal

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement carried by state-affiliated media that its intelligence chief, Majid Khademi, has been killed.
According to the statement, Khademi died earlier today in what Iranian officials allege was a targeted strike carried out by Israel and the United States.
Khademi had taken over the role after his predecessor, Mohammad Kazemi, was killed in an Israeli strike on June 15, 2025, during the 12-day conflict between Iran and Israel.
In February, following a wave of deadly anti-government demonstrations in January, Khademi accused U.S. President Donald Trump of encouraging what Iranian authorities described as a "staged murder" strategy intended to drive up casualties and create a pretext for foreign military involvement.
At the time, Khademi said more than 10 foreign intelligence agencies were involved in the unrest, including Israel’s Unit 8200, its cyber and intelligence division. The U.S.-based Human Rights Activists News Agency reported that at least 7,000 people were killed during the government’s crackdown on the January protests.
