The long-promised Trump-branded cellphone is finally beginning to reach consumers — nearly a year after it was first unveiled with bold promises of American manufacturing, “patriotic” branding, and a wireless plan tied directly to President Donald Trump and his political identity.

The device, known as the “T1 Phone,” is part of the broader Trump Mobile venture launched by Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump. The gold-colored Android smartphone, marketed alongside the “47 Plan,” is now reportedly shipping to customers who placed preorders months ago after a turbulent rollout filled with delays, skepticism, and mounting scrutiny from lawmakers and technology experts.

At launch, the phone was promoted as a premium “Made in America” device priced at $499. But over time, the marketing language quietly shifted from “Made in the USA” to phrases like “assembled in America” and “American Proud Design,” fueling criticism from analysts who questioned whether the device could realistically be manufactured domestically at that price point.

Now, after months of uncertainty, Trump Mobile says the phones have officially started shipping this week.

“The T1 Phone has arrived!!” the company announced in a social media post, adding that preorder customers would begin receiving tracking updates as devices roll out nationwide.

A Political Brand Turned Wireless Carrier

The Trump cellphone is more than just another smartphone launch. It represents one of the most aggressive expansions of the Trump brand into consumer technology and telecommunications.

The “47 Plan” wireless service — priced at $47.45 per month — is an unmistakable reference to Trump serving as both the 45th and 47th president of the United States. The plan reportedly offers unlimited talk, text, and data along with additional perks like roadside assistance and telehealth features.

Critics, however, argue the venture raises major ethical and consumer protection questions.

Sen. Mark Warner recently questioned whether the company made misleading claims about the phone’s manufacturing origins and pricing structure. Warner reportedly raised concerns that the phone resembles lower-cost Chinese-made devices that sell online for substantially less than the T1’s nearly $500 asking price.

Additional controversy erupted after Trump Mobile’s preorder terms stated that deposits did not guarantee a phone would actually be produced or delivered — language that alarmed consumer advocates and legal analysts.
