Seven children were inside a Minnesota home daycare Wednesday morning when police say a domestic tragedy unfolded a room away. All seven walked out unharmed.

Police in Hopkins, Minnesota, say three people were found dead inside a residential daycare Wednesday morning, following a reported stabbing at a home on the 200 block of Tyler Avenue North. Officers responded to the scene around 9 a.m., according to the Hopkins Police Department. Investigators believe, preliminarily, that a man took his own life after killing a woman and a child.

At the time of the incident, seven children were present at the daycare. Police have not yet clarified whether the child among the deceased was part of that count of seven, leaving one significant detail of the incident still unresolved as the investigation continues.

What police have confirmed is more reassuring: all of the children at the daycare have since been reunified with their parents, and none were physically harmed during the incident.

Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty also weighed in, confirming her office is working directly with Hopkins Police as the investigation continues. She said the office's victim services division stands ready to support those impacted by the incident.
