The National Cancer Institute estimates over two million Americans will come down with cancer before 2025. This organization also predicts north of 611,000 fatalities from the disease. Among the most common cancerous forms are breast, prostate, and lung, with men more likely to die from cancer than women.
Generally, the earlier this medical issue is caught, the more options a person has. After a certain point, healthcare remedies to combat cancer are limited. The available ones can also be less effective than they would have been with an earlier disease detection.
This week, the American Cancer Society released an interesting new study regarding deaths and cases that the general public should know about.
The risk factors are nothing to mess around with
In 2019, 40% of cancer cases and about 50% of cancer deaths among adults 30+ pertained to poor lifestyle choices. Drinking alcohol, regularly consuming a bad diet, smoking, and refusing vaccinations top the list.
Scientists described each of the aforementioned as “modifiable” factors that individuals can change to reduce their risks of coming down with cancer. Nearly three dozen forms of this illness – including breast, skin, and lung – shared connections to ill-advised lifestyle habits.
