On X, Newsom explicitly declared California is geared up to “fight.” In this fight, the governor vowed his state will go toe-to-toe against the incoming Trump administration to protect climate change action, reproductive liberties, and overall civil rights.
Newsom next warned that California won’t allow a federal government controlled by Republicans to “turn back the clock.”

The California governor is not alone in his promises. Other Democratic leaders have taken to social media to assure state residents of their own work to fortify against Trump’s next four years in office.
Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer recently stated on X that she’ll always be there to help and support Michiganders. This was followed with a phone number for state residents to call if they have any concerns.
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul took similar steps. On X, the Democratic leader put out a statement asserting New York as a “bastion” of the labor movement, women’s rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and more. Following this, Hochul too declared her state will “always” stand by these values.
