In the aftermath of this week’s election, the 2024 presidential race has been called for Donald Trump. The newly announced president-elect is expected to proceed with a series of policy proposals that he and his team assert will “make America great again.”
From mass deportations of illegal immigrants to moving away from the Biden administration’s robust support of Ukraine, the incoming Trump White House is certain to make headlines.
Between now and January 20, 2025, left-wing governors across the nation are rolling up their sleeves for what’s ahead. Just days ago, California Gov. Gavin Newsom revealed he’s convening a “special session” to prepare for incoming federal leadership.
A new spin on states’ rights
Newsom’s special session will commence on Monday, December 2. Central to its mission is “Trump-proofing” the various laws California has on the books. More specifically, it is Newsom’s belief that a second Trump term threatens freedoms that over 38 million state residents enjoy.
As such, the Democratic governor ordered the state legislature to approve additional funding for the California attorney general’s office. These funds will be directly used to potentially thwart federal directives or other actions that Trump takes once he returns to the White House.
