Chief Justice John Roberts rebukes Trump

U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts rebuked President Donald Trump over his criticism of a federal judge who blocked his administration’s new policy suspending the entry of immigrants seeking asylum.

Roberts said, “We do not have Obama judges or Trump judges, Bush judges or Clinton judges,” in a rare statement released by the U.S. Supreme Court’s press office, which was first reported by the Associated Press.

The Chief Justice added, “What we have is an extraordinary group of dedicated judges doing their level best to do equal right to those appearing before them. That independent judiciary is something we should all be thankful for.”

Roberts’ comment came after the Associated Press inquired about Trump’s latest attack on the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

Trump called the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals a “disgrace”

On Tuesday, Trump told reporters, “You go to the 9th Circuit and it’s a disgrace. I’m going to put in a major complaint. Because you cannot win, if you’re us…Every case gets filed in the 9th Circuit. … We get beaten, and then we end up having to go to the Supreme Court — like the travel ban — and we won.
