Dallas Mavericks minority owner and investor Mark Cuban has joined a group of about 200 venture capitalists to support Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 Presidential Election. Cuban previously sold a majority stake in the Mavericks to Miriam Adelson earlier this year. Adelson is a longtime Trump supporter.

Adelson, Owner of Dallas Mavericks

The owners represent a sharp political contrast. The Adelson family was a significant financial supporter of Donald Trump during the 2020 election.

Trump even awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2018 to her. The family plans to donate up to $100 million to his presidential campaign in the 2024 election cycle. 

Her support for Trump is longstanding, exemplified by a 2019 opinion piece she penned for Israel Hayom, the Israeli daily newspaper she owns.

She drew comparisons between Trump and Biblical heroes, sages, and prophets. And celebrates the Abraham Accords from Trump's first term.

In the article, Adelson wrote, "Would it be too much to pray for a day when the Bible gets a 'Book of Trump,' much like it has a 'Book of Esther' celebrating the deliverance of the Jews from ancient Persia?"

Cuban Group

In contrast, Mark Cuban is part of a group known as VCs for Kamala, which rallies support for Vice President Harris. The group emphasizes its focus on entrepreneurship and technological progress, which they argue are essential components of the American Dream.

 The website for VCs for Kamala states, "We spend our days looking for, investing in, and supporting entrepreneurs who are building the future. We are pro-business, pro-American dream, pro-entrepreneurship, and pro-technological progress."

The statement on their website echos that Trump is somehow a threat to democracy.

 "That is what's at stake in this election," the statement reads, adding that while many issues can be addressed through dialogue, the integrity of democratic institutions must be preserved.

The group invites others to join their cause through an online form, clarifying that their pledge is not a declaration of political alignment but rather an endorsement of Harris's candidacy. 

In the meantime, there has been a flurry of endorsements for Trump from other high-profile tech investors, including Elon Musk. He voiced his support for Trump following an assassination attempt on Trump in early July.

On both traditional and social media, Cuban has been a vocal critic of former President Donald Trump, the Republican candidate in the 2024 election. Adelson has long been an advocate for Trump.

Despite their differing political views, Cuban and Adelson share at least one common goal: 

They are both hoping to see casinos legalized in Texas in the near future. Perhaps, the current and past Mavericks owners, are hedging their bets.
