For many reasons, Joe Biden's standing in the 2024 presidential election remains largely up to interpretation.

Certain Americans believe the commander-in-chief will ultimately secure his party's nomination and cruise to reelection, especially if former President Trump ends up being his general election opponent.

However, other folks across the country have very different outlooks.

Some feel the surveys showing Biden neck-in-neck with Trump don't bode well for the former. Then, there are polls that display the president losing support amongst Democrats, Independents, and US adults.

So far, the Democratic National Committee has established it will not hold any primary debates. This news is believed to have influenced Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to go from launching his presidential run as a Democrat to later campaigning as an Independent.

Likewise, the DNC's refusal to host debates this year has been slammed as the establishment colluding to help Biden. Yet, none of this is dissuading Democratic Rep. Dean Phillips from officially challenging Biden for the party's 2024 nomination.

What to know about Phillips' entry into the 2024 presidential race

On Friday, the Minnesota congressman officially announced his choice to get into the election. Phillips is currently branding his candidacy as one that "everyone" is welcome to support.

During a recent interview, the Democratic official also stated the economy, public safety, generational changes, and lessening political division will be the hallmarks of his run.

Phillips moreover believes that under current political conditions, Biden will lose to Trump in 2024. While the congressman admits defeating Biden for the Democratic nomination constitutes a "long shot," he still believes it can be done by everyone coming together.

A mixed bag of reactions from Democrats

While Biden's presidential campaign isn't letting the nation see it sweat, the same cannot be said for other Democrats.

Those with the greatest concerns believe Phillips - at the very least - has the potential to weaken Biden by taking away votes from him. It's also worth noting with RFK Jr. now running as an Independent, there are worries that he too could siphon off support the president needs.

Thus far, apprehensive Democrats are citing Phillips' youth and high energy levels as potential problems for Biden. In the weeks ahead, time will determine what real impact the Minnesota lawmaker has in the 2024 Democratic primary.
