According to four of his victims’ testimony, he abused them by first gaining their trust. Ray coerced his daughter’s roommates to perform sex acts on each other. He treated them all like slaves. And eventually isolated them from their parents and support systems. He sexually humiliated and beat his followers. There was video evidence of beatings and abuse presented in the case. Then he intimidated them to get false confessions which he used to extort millions of dollars for himself. He continued as leader of the University-based cult till his arrest in 2020. He was convicted of extortion, sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and a myriad of other charges. Ray was sentenced to 60 years on Friday, by Judge Lewis J. Liman of the Federal District Court in Manhattan. The prosecutor argued for life in prison. And he told the court Larry Ray was “incapable of contrition.” And claimed he would be dangerous if he was ever freed from prison. “While the defendant’s victims descended into self-hatred, self-harm, and suicidal attempts under his coercive control,” prosecutors wrote, “the evidence showed that the defendant took sadistic pleasure in their pain and enjoyed the fruits of their suffering.”Ray described as evil
The Sarah Lawrence sex cult father who forced his daughter’s roommates to perform sex acts on each other and who he treated like slaves was today jailed for 60 years by a judge who labeled his crimes ‘pure and simple sadism’. His crimes came to light in 2019 when New York Magazine’s The Cut published an expose. Some of the followers remained loyal to him. Others became witnesses against him.
