Forbes’ World’s Billionaires List

Taylor Swift, the iconic pop sensation, has once again made headlines. On Tuesday she was included in the prestigious Forbes' World’s Billionaires List for 2024. This achievement doesn’t surprise her fans, affectionately known as the Swifties.

No one can deny that she’s had an amazing chart-topping 12-months. Swift is a mega star singer and a prolific songwriter. And she has also been wise and strategic in her business ventures.

Forbes' World’s Billionaires List

Her multifaceted career propelled her to billionaire status in October 2023. And it just keeps getting better.

Taylor Swift joins a constellation of newly minted celebrity billionaires. The list includes Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, Oprah Winfrey, and George Lucas, creator of the iconic "Star Wars" film franchise.

Swift boasts a net worth of $1.1 billion. Her meteoric earnings came from the blockbuster Eras tour, her ever-growing music catalog and her real estate portfolio. Forbes claims she is the first person to achieve billionaire status solely through songwriting and performing.

The Eras Tour

Swift’s lucrative 2023 is due primarily to the worldwide Eras Tour. The concert journey created approximately 45% of Swift's net worth.

According to music industry trade publication Pollstar data Swift’s big venue record-breaking Eras Tour, became the first concert tour in history to earn more than $1 billion dollars. And it was funded through the sale of 4.35 million tickets.

The singer/songwriter pocketed $1.04 billion in gross ticket sales. And it boosted economies wherever she appeared.

For example, her U.S. concerts added about $4.3 billion to America's gross domestic product for the year, Bloomberg reported.

Swift has proven to be a savvy businesswoman. Her concert movie Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour opened in October 2023 with record-breaking earnings of $92.8 million on its debut weekend.

According to AMC CEO Adam Aron, Swift’s father, Scott Swift proposed the bold idea of bypassing traditional film distributors. By cutting a direct deal with AMC the Swifts eliminated the middlemen and quadrupled their earnings on the deal.

Shattering records

At the pinnacle of her career, Taylor Swift continues to shatter records and redefine the boundaries of success in the music industry.

Her recent triumph at the 2024 Grammy Awards, where she clinched the coveted album of the year award for "Midnights," marked her fourth win in this category.

The singer's expanding music catalog has also added to her wealth. After her first six albums, she signed a distribution deal with Universal Music which gave her monetary control over her work. And in 2019, Swift released “Lover.”

After the masters to her first six albums were purchased by Scooter Braun via his acquisition of Big Machine Label Group.

Her strategic decision to re-release her first six albums under the banner of "Taylor's Version" bolstered her wealth and cemented her legacy.  She has re-released four "Taylor's Version" albums, including "1989," "Fearless," "Red" and "Speak Now." And "The Tortured Poets Department," her 11th album is due out on April 19.

Swift's billionaire ranking happened one day after her sweeping victory at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards. She clinched six awards, including artist of the year.

In a heartfelt message to the Swifties, she expressed gratitude for their unwavering support, acknowledging their role in her journey.

As she continues to captivate audiences around the globe with her music and charisma, one thing remains certain: the reign of Taylor Swift shows no signs of slowing down.
