This is a sensitive matter that Republicans and Democrats alike have called out. Republican Meghan McCain, whose family has been very close with Biden (at least in previous years), rightfully branded the president’s refusal to acknowledge his seventh grandchild as “abhorrent.”
Meanwhile, an op-ed in the moderately left-leaning New York Times also reminded Biden that he has seven grandchildren, not six. Maureen Dowd, the author of the piece, truly held the president’s feet to the fire.
She reminded readers that Biden talks extensively about the importance of family. Yet, his love of family apparently isn’t stopping him from “scarring” his youngest granddaughter, Dowd pointed out.
Biden’s chances in the 2024 presidential election
Currently, Biden is campaigning for a second term in the Oval Office. Though given that his administration keeps going out of its way to deny Navy Joan’s existence, the president can expect to face more criticism over this matter.
If Biden really cared about family, America wouldn’t have to scold him for denying the existence of his own flesh and blood.
