Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (RFK), a prominent figure in American politics, surprised many when he announced from Arizona Friday morning that he was suspending his Independent presidential campaign. The most shocking aspect of his address was Kennedy endorsing Trump.

His endorsement of the Republican presidential candidate enables the formation of a "Unity Party."

Despite this suspension, Kennedy will still appear on the ballot in 10 crucial battleground states.

Kennedy Endorsing Trump

The endorsement of Trump by Kennedy, a member of the Democratic Party's most renowned family, is expected to have a significant impact. 

Kennedy discussed the formation of a Unity Party focused on key issues such as the border crisis, free speech, and children’s health, which he emphasized as his primary concern.

This endorsement is particularly surprising given Kennedy’s previous criticisms of Trump and his own party. He has been vocal about his belief that the Democratic Party has shifted away from the policies he supports, leading to a growing rift between him and the party’s leadership.

 In response, Democrats have taken legal action to prevent Kennedy from appearing on the ballot in various states.

Kennedy made a statement that in a series of meetings with Trump and his team, he realized he shared more in common with the former president than he realized.

He compared their potential partnership to President Abraham Lincoln's famous "team of rivals," in which his Cabinet included several of his former foes.

"I was surprised to discover that we are aligned on many key issues," RFK said. "In those meetings, he suggested that we join forces as a unity party."

Kennedy said this understanding "allows us to disagree publicly and privately and fiercely."

Before delivering his speech, Kennedy’s campaign made a notable move by filing paperwork in a Pennsylvania court indicating his endorsement of Trump and requesting his removal from the Pennsylvania ballot.

This decision came shortly after Kennedy sought to withdraw from the Arizona ballot, although it remains unclear if he is officially ending his campaign.

Kennedy’s campaign successfully filed the necessary paperwork on Thursday to remove his and his running mate Nicole Shanahan’s names from the Arizona ballot.

This move was confirmed by Arizona’s secretary of state’s office, despite challenges from Democrats questioning the legitimacy of some signatures.
