Before today, X users had the option of privatizing their likes if they paid for a subscription to the platform. Now, everyone’s likes are automatically concealed, whether they’re paid users or not.
This change isn’t without controversy
On X, many people have opted to weigh in with their thoughts about everyone getting hidden likes. Suffice it to say, the feedback is less than positive.
Some folks question the timing of this change rolling out merely days after X agreed to allow pornographic content on the site. Similarly-minded individuals suggested that hiding likes will empower people to interact with salacious, lewd, or derogatory content.
Then, there’s just a feeling of annoyance among certain X users. Some feel this latest platform shift comes unnecessarily and ultimately serves no purpose.
Despite what appears to be an overwhelmingly negative reception, the platform doesn’t appear set to make users’ likes available for public consumption again.
