In a horrifying act of violence in South Philadelphia, a 4-year-old boy and three adults fell victim to a multiple shooting Saturday night. The tragic incident occurred around 7:50 p.m. outside a rowhouse on the 1700 block of Ringgold Street. This Philadelphia shooting incident marked the second time a toddler was involved in such a crime in the city within a week.
Victims Rushed to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center
Upon arriving at the chaotic scene, Philadelphia police found the toddler critically injured with a gunshot wound to his chest.
A 55-year-old woman was shot in her right leg and left hand, a 58-year-old woman in her left thigh, and a 29-year-old man was struck in the wrist.
According to Inspector D.F. Pace, “It’s very disturbing, to see sidewalk art and small footprints in chalk, then to rush a child of that age to the hospital.”
All victims were promptly transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, with the toddler initially driven in a private vehicle.
Subsequent to surgery, the young boy’s condition stabilized, and he was then transferred to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
