[USA Herald] – It feels surreal to write these words: World War III may not just be on the horizon—it might already be knocking on our door. Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent approval of an updated nuclear doctrine signals a dangerous escalation. This doctrine allows for preemptive nuclear strikes against the U.S., NATO allies, and Ukraine under certain conditions.
Meanwhile, Ukraine, armed with U.S. and NATO-supplied long-range missiles, has reportedly begun retaliatory attacks. These missiles, while conventionally tipped, have the capacity to carry nuclear payloads. The resulting geopolitical chessboard is unlike anything we’ve seen since the Cuban Missile Crisis, and it’s raising fundamental questions about the United States’ readiness—not just militarily, but legally.
