Aquaman and Starlord End Quarrel Over Plastic, But What About Amazon?

Jason Momoa called out Chris Pratt for using a single-use plastic bottle and posting it on Instagram. Turns out, Pratt says it was thrown to him as a prop. Pratt says he actually uses reusable gallon jugs to drink water. Within hours, Momoa apologized for calling him out so harshly. But should he have apologized?

Aquaman and Starlord

Jason Momoa (famous for playing Aquaman, as well as Khal Drogo on Game of Thrones) is passionate about the "single use plastic epidemic." Chris Pratt (known for playing Starlord in Guardians of the Galaxy) seems to agree.

When Pratt posted an Instagram picture of him holding a single-use plastic bottle while "low-key flexing," Momoa called him out. "No single use plastic. Come on," responded Momoa. And the internet blew this exchange out of proportion.

Pratt said, "If I remember correctly somebody threw that plastic bottle to me in the photo shoot cause I didn't know what to do with my hands." Momoa apologized for how out of control this "quarrel" had gotten over the course of a day.

But the fact remains, there were plastic water bottles on this photo shoot. Pratt was on this shoot teaming up with Amazon to endorse workout-related products.

Amazon and the Environment

Amazon is the third-largest company in the world. It is run by the richest man in the world, Jeff Bezos. He is an ardent critic of the Trump administration, which Bezos would say is anti-environmental.

And yet, months after Amazon announced its plans to comply with the Paris Climate Accord 10 years early, photo shoots for Amazon still have single-use plastic bottles on set.

Since the September announcement, you would think a simple yet effective change like switching out single-use plastic would be among the first changes to happen.

But apparently, Amazon is not concerned about with "little" changes like switching out polluting single-use plastic with more sustainable solutions. Bezos prefers a marketable achievement, like the "largest order of electric delivery vehicles ever."
