On Wednesday an Arizona teenager who vanished just days before her 15th birthday almost four years ago is confirmed as safe. Alicia Navarro, now 18, mysteriously appeared at a police station in Havre, Montana about 40 miles from the Canadian border. She identified herself as a missing teenager from Glendale, a Phoenix suburb.

Alicia's mental health and physical condition were found to be stable, and she seemed "fine and in good health" when she presented herself to the police.

According to Santiago, an official from the Glendale PD, Alicia voluntarily sought help to clear her status as a missing juvenile. She is not facing any charges or being held against her will.

 The police are cooperating with her and federal partners to ensure her privacy and safety during this time.

"We are so glad for Alicia and her family so that they can be reunited, and the family can no longer have the anguish of not knowing where their child is or whether or not she is OK," according to the Havre Police's statement.

The reunion between Alicia and her mother was described as "emotionally overwhelming." Alicia expressed remorse for the distress she put her mother through during the long period of separation. Now that she has been found and her safety ensured, Alicia is looking forward to moving on with her life.

Missing teenager 

Alicia disappeared in the middle of the night on September 15, over three years ago. 

She is described as a high-functioning autistic teen. And her case received extensive attention. And generated thousands of leads over the years. 

Her mother Jessica Nunez never stopped looking for her. And her sudden appearance in a Montana town is a relief to the family.

The young girl's safe return comes as a blessing for her worried family, especially her mother. Jessica refused to give up hope that her daughter was alive. 

Her mother's worse fear is that Alicia might have been lured away by someone she encountered online. And she was afraid that her daughter was being harmed.

The Glendale Police Department shared videos and a photo of Alicia during her reunion at the department. In the videos, Alicia can be seen expressing her gratitude to the police for their assistance and confirming that no one had harmed her during her time missing.

While Alicia's return brings a sense of relief, the investigation into her disappearance is far from over. 

Glendale Police and the FBI are continuing their efforts in Montana to delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding her vanishing. Lt. Scott Waite emphasized that they are exploring all potential scenarios, including the possibility of kidnapping.
