Fox News reporter Bill Melugin, renowned for his innovative use of drones, recently captured massive illegal crossings along the porous U.S. border with Mexico.

 On Sunday night, Melugin took to social media, stating that he had observed "One of the largest mass illegal crossings we have ever seen."

The Border Patrol confirmed that over 2,200 migrants were captured on video as they headed towards Eagle Pass, Texas, during the overnight hours. This incident marks one of the largest border crossings observed by Fox News in the past two years.

Cellphone videos sourced from Piedras Negras, the Mexican city across from Eagle Pass, depict a frantic stampede of migrants rushing to the river's edge overnight.

 They formed a lengthy line in the river, crossing from shore to shore. It's important to note that this mass crossing took place right next to the legal port of entry in Eagle Pass, raising concerns about border security.

Fox News' drone team captured additional footage on the U.S. side early Monday morning, showing the large group of migrants being processed by U.S. Border Patrol agents.

Bill Melugin, the national correspondent for Fox News, shared the breaking news on X (formerly Twitter). He posted a video showcasing the illegal crossing and wrote, "BREAKING: One of the largest mass illegal crossings we have ever seen took place in Eagle Pass, TX this morning, w/ Border Patrol sources telling us over 2,200 people crossed there since midnight." 

Melugin's post garnered over 3,000 likes and nearly as many re-posts in just two hours. It also prompted numerous responses from X users.

Elon Musk, CEO of X, weighed in on the issue, remarking, "Most people don’t understand that this is not a case of people from Mexico entering the US, but anyone from Earth." 

Meanwhile, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) took to Twitter on Monday, reminding the public, "Under U.S. immigration laws, most noncitizens coming to our border are not eligible to remain in the United States. Asylum laws do not provide for relief solely for economic reasons or for general violence." 

President Joe Biden's administration has also been sending mixed messages. Biden has done an about-face on the border. He has reversed all of Trump’s border policies that effectively slowed the influx, sold off materials previously purchased for building a border wall, and assured Congress there was no crisis.

The President has recently told the immigrants not to come here. But that doesn’t seem to slow them down.

Both the Northern and the Southern US borders have issues. A chief border patrol agent in Vermont recently reported that illegal border crossings into the U.S. from Canada in 2023 have already exceeded the numbers recorded over the last decade.
