Federal authorities confirmed Wednesday that multiple members of President-elect Donald Trump's incoming administration have been targeted with bomb threats and swatting incidents. The threats, described by Trump's transition team as "violent, un-American," have prompted swift responses from law enforcement to ensure the safety of those affected.

Trump Nominees Receive Bomb Threats : Nominees Targeted

While officials have not disclosed the full list of targets, Trump's nominee for Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) chief, Lee Zeldin, and his pick for ambassador to the United Nations, Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., revealed they were among those targeted. Both reported that their families were unharmed.

Zeldin wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that his home was threatened with a pipe bomb alongside a "pro-Palestinian themed message."

“My family and I were not home at the time and are safe,” Zeldin said. “We are working with law enforcement to learn more as this situation develops. We are thankful for the swift actions taken by local officers to keep our family, neighbors, and local community secure.”

Similarly, Stefanik's office stated that she, her husband, and their young son were driving home when they were informed of a bomb threat targeting their Saratoga County residence.

“New York State, county law enforcement, and U.S. Capitol Police responded immediately with the highest levels of professionalism,” her office reported.

Federal Response

The FBI acknowledged the threats and incidents of swatting—a tactic involving false reports to prompt a SWAT team response—against Trump’s appointees.

“The FBI is aware of numerous bomb threats and swatting incidents targeting incoming administration nominees and appointees, and we are working with our law enforcement partners,” the agency said in a statement. “We take all potential threats seriously and encourage members of the public to report anything suspicious.”

Transition Team Condemnation

Karoline Leavitt, spokesperson for Trump’s transition team, condemned the threats and praised law enforcement's quick response.

“These are violent, un-American threats to the lives of nominees and those who live with them,” Leavitt said. “President Trump and the entire transition team are grateful for the swift action taken to protect those targeted.”
