Combs’ request for accuser identities follows six new lawsuits against him. All six filings conceal the identities of the alleged victims. Two are Jane Does, while the rest are listed as John Does.
Piling Accusations Could Affect The Outcome Of Combs’ Trial
The rapper’s lawyers also accused the prosecution of seeking media attention with the case. They cited a press conference at the start of the month at which attorney Tony Buzbee claimed to represent 120 of Combs’ alleged victims. Diddy’s legal team has labeled much of the information from the opposing counsel a “publicity stunt.” If these statements go “unchecked,” the team claims, they will prevent Combs from having a fair trial.
The entertainer is currently detained at the infamous Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. Since his September 16 arrest in Manhattan, Diddy has sought release on bail twice, facing rejection both times. Combs pled not guilty before a grand jury and seems intent on maintaining this stance until his trial next year.
