Ellen DeGeneres on Thursday announced that she tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19).
The popular talk show host bared this news in a Tweet. She said, “Hi Everyone. I want to let you all know that I tested positive for Covid-19. Fortunately, I’m feeling fine right now. Anyone who has been in close contact with me has been notified, and I am following all proper CDC guidelines.”
While it’s unclear how this latest development will affect her talk-show “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” Ellen said, “I’ll see you all again after the holidays.”
“Please stay healthy and safe,” she wrote. “Love, Ellen.”

Ellen said people who have been in close contact with her have been notified, adding that she is strictly adhering to “all proper CDC guidelines,” a reference to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Ellen’s talk show has returned in production with stringent COVID-19 health protocols in place since September.
Ellen has welcomed both in-person and virtual guests. Her audience, however, was fully remote until October when the show started hosting a limited studio audience.
The show earlier began its 18th season. The show added fans virtually into the seats, then announced that it would allow a few people into the studio.
Ellen had faced accusations of leading a toxic workplace earlier this year after BuzzFeed News published a report where former staff members bared that they experienced racism, and intimidation on set.
Warner Bros. launched a probe into the incident and Ellen apologized on camera and to employees. Three producers left the show.
Ellen joins a list of celebrities who also tested positive for the dreaded virus, including Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson.
