During her time on air, the House Speaker also expressed that she’s prayerful for President Trump.
In Pelosi’s own words:
“I pray for the president all the time. I pray for the safety of his family, wish that he would pray for the safety of other families and do something courageous on guns. But I also pray that God will illuminate him to see right from wrong. It’s very problematic.”
Yesterday, Pelosi accused Trump of engaging in a “cover-up,” citing whistleblower claims that he allegedly tried to conceal his conversation with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky. Zelensky has, interestingly enough, denied that Trump engaged in any wrongdoing.
The Impeachment Inquiry and Senate Republicans
Since the announcement of the impeachment inquiry, Americans have reacted in various ways. Many on the left praised Pelosi’s decision and moreover lauded it as long overdue. Other Americans, especially conservatives, slammed the impeachment inquiry announcement as unwanted and politically-motivated.
Over the course of this week, critics of impeachment have noted that Republicans maintain control of the Senate. In order for impeachment to succeed after making it through the House, two-thirds of the Senate would have to vote in favor of it.
