“Brigade reconnaissance was suppressed, a significant number of armored combat vehicles were destroyed, and a significant number of prisoners were captured. The so-called 3rd Assault Detachment of the Wagner Private Military Company suffered heavy losses,” he added.
Prigozhin’s claims were confirmed by Biletskyi who reported that the 72nd Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces managed to escape.
Prigozhin has been a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin. He made his fortune as a businessman with one of his ventures being Wagner. In the last few months, he has been highly critical of Russia’s top brass.
His social media is filled with posts blaming them for the death of his fighters in Ukraine. And the last couple of weeks he has been claiming that the Russian army will not provide the Wagner group with ammunition.
