The idea that Republicans in Georgia should boycott the Senate race has been pushed by independent attorney Lin Wood.
“We do NOT need to vote for @KLoeffler & @sendavidperdue in rigged runoff to control Senate,” he tweeted on Saturday to his nearly 730,000 followers even after the president told him to “knock it off” in a private phone call.
The president, on Saturday, told his supporters loud and clear that he wants them to vote in the election and does not want them to listen to Wood.
“Friends of mine say we are not going to vote because we are angry about the presidential election,” he said. “Don’t listen to my friends.”
First Lady Melania Trump even started the rally by telling Georgia Republicans that it’s extremely for them “that you exercise your rights as a citizen and vote.”
“The voters of Georgia will determine which party runs every committee, writes every piece of legislation, controls every single taxpayer dollar,” the president said. “Very simply, you will decide whether your children will grow up in a socialist country or whether they will grow up in a free country.”
