[SANTA CLARA, CA] – In the latest episode of rising tensions between the Trump administration and the judiciary, President Trump and billionaire Elon Musk have taken to calling for the impeachment of certain federal judges. Their target: Judges who have issued rulings blocking key investigations into government corruption and inefficiency—specifically the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Musk.
Earlier this week, U.S. District Judge Paul A. Engelmayer issued a preliminary injunction that blocked Musk’s DOGE team from accessing sensitive records held by the U.S. Treasury Department. These records include crucial data on tax refunds, Social Security benefits, and veterans’ benefits, all of which the administration argues are vital for identifying and eliminating government waste.
However, some critics of Judge Engelmayer argue that he has overstepped his judicial authority, adopting an activist role instead of upholding impartial justice. Rather than remaining neutral, they contend that he has chosen to side against the Trump team, shaping his rulings to oppose them.
