Davion Irvin,24 was arrested on Thursday. Dallas police believe he may be responsible for all the recent strange occurrences at the Dallas Zoo.

He is believed to be the suspect caught on surveillance video. And police have been pursuing him as a suspect.

According to police Irvin has been charged with six counts of Animal Cruelty- non-livestock.

The charges are in connection to the theft of 2 Emperor Tamarin monkeys from the Dallas Zoo. 

The monkeys named Bella and Finn were taken on Monday. And recovered from an abandoned home in Lancaster, a city 15 miles south of the zoo, on Tuesday.

The next night, the monkeys named Bella and Finn were discovered inside a closet in the church-owned vacant home in Lancaster, Texas. 

The Zoo’s care team says the monkeys display "no signs of injury."

"We will continue to monitor them closely, but for now, we're so glad they are safe and back with us," the zoo posted on Facebook.

Strange occurrences at the Aquarium?

Irvin was spotted at the Dallas World Aquarium near some of the animal exhibits.

A spokesperson for the Aquarium said the suspect "stopped an employee of The Dallas World Aquarium to ask questions regarding one of our animals." The employee notified the police and Irwin was "later apprehended outside of and away from our facility."

According to a press release from the Dallas Police Department 

“The preliminary investigation and help from the public identified Irvin as the man Dallas Police were looking to speak with regarding the missing monkeys at the Dallas Zoo.”

On Thursday, Dallas Police were contacted by the Dallas World Aquarium employee who encountered him near animal exhibits.

“When officers responded they saw Irvin get onto a DART rail. Officers later spotted Irvin in the 1400 block of Pacific and took him to Jack Evans Headquarters for questioning.” 

He was subsequently arrested and charged with the theft of the monkeys. 

He is suspected of additional crimes at the zoo.  And is being held at the Dallas County Jail.

Dallas Zoo mystery solved

Irvin’s arrest comes after a series of wild events at the zoo. The incidents have included the missing monkeys. And a dead vulture named Pin. 

It all began on January 13 when a clouded leopard named Nova went missing from her habitat. And although she was recovered within hours someone had cut the fence to let her out.

On January 21, an endangered vulture died and an unnatural death at the zoo.

More cameras were added to the facility. And despite the additional security measures more cages were tampered with.
