Alec Baldwin Now Facing Involuntary Manslaughter Charges

On Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021, Halyna Hutchins, a cinematographer working on the film “Rust” in New Mexico, tragically lost her life. This happened after actor Alec Baldwin allegedly fired a gun that was handed to him by another person working on set.

Since then, Baldwin’s insisted that he didn’t pull the trigger on the weapon; though ballistics have deemed this to be impossible. A firearm cannot go off unless its trigger is pulled.

Baldwin’s found himself under a microscope amid this tragedy. The reality of the actor openly being on record as heavily supportive of restrictive gun control measures hasn’t helped his cause, either.

Now, Baldwin is facing two involuntary manslaughter charges as a result of the involvement he had in Hutchins’ untimely death.

A closer look at the charges against Baldwin

Prosecutors officially filed charges against not just Baldwin, but also Hannah Gutierrez-Reed. She was the armorer working on the movie set in New Mexico.

It is the view of prosecutors that involuntary manslaughter charges against Baldwin are justified. That’s due to what they refer to as the actor “deviating” from rules and regulations that would have saved Hutchins’ life.
