Charlotte Sena abduction

Craig Ross Jr. now faces first-degree kidnapping charges in connection with the Charlotte Sena abduction case. Ross, 46, is being held at the Saratoga County Jail. The New York State Police have indicated that additional charges are pending as the investigation unfolds.

He is implicated in the alleged kidnapping of young Charlotte Sena, who went missing while riding her bike in a state park in the Moreau Lake State Park on Saturday.

The disappearance of Charlotte triggered a massive response from law enforcement and the community. An Amber Alert was issued, and a GoFundMe campaign quickly gained momentum to aid in the search for the missing girl. Hundreds of dedicated searchers combed through a vast 50-mile radius, desperately trying to locate the child.

The breakthrough in the case came when Ross was arrested on Monday in connection with the abduction. Local media reports indicate that he left a chilling ransom note at Sena's parents' residence.

Charlotte had embarked on a solo bike ride around Loop A at the State Park in Gansevoort, New York, that day. Initially, she had been riding with friends, but she decided to do one last lap on her own, and it was during this ride that she mysteriously vanished.

Authorities eventually located the fourth-grader hidden in a camper owned by Craig Ross Jr., who is now charged with kidnapping.

The identification of the suspected abductor was achieved by matching fingerprints found on the ransom note to Ross in a criminal database. New York Governor Hochul confirmed this critical detail to CNN, revealing that the fingerprints were linked to Ross's DWI arrest back in 1999.

He only had a DUI on his record. He was not listed on the New York State Sex Offender List.

Subsequent to this revelation, a comprehensive search was conducted across various residences associated with the suspect. One such location was approximately 13 miles south of Charlotte Sena's residence in the hamlet of Porters Corners. Police made a breakthrough at approximately 6:32 p.m. on Monday, successfully locating Charlotte, according to an official statement from the New York State Police.

Suspect is reclusive

Ross did not surrender easily, and the police reported some resistance during his arrest, resulting in minor injuries. Charlotte has now been safely reunited with her family.

Reports suggest that Ross, who reportedly suffers from multiple sclerosis, faced significant mobility challenges in the weeks leading up to the alleged abduction. He had recently relocated to a trailer situated on his mother's property in Saratoga County, New York.

The father of three had been residing in a three-bedroom home in Porters Corner, where he reportedly cared for his 11-year-old daughter a few days a week. Neighbors recount that his health deteriorated, forcing him to move into a mobile home on his mother's property, while his two adult sons continued living in their previous residence.

Describing Ross as "reclusive" and "quiet," one unidentified neighbor shed light on his challenging situation.

As the investigation unfolds, Ross faces the formidable charge of first-degree kidnapping with the intent to collect ransom in connection with Charlotte Sena's abduction. The community remains on edge as they await further developments in this harrowing case.
