It inspired the 2013 horror film The Conjuring and subsequent films in the Annabelle series.
Originally a gift to a nursing student in 1968, Annabelle reportedly caused violent and terrifying occurrences before the Warrens—famed demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren—intervened.
“The two roommates tried to accept the doll’s spirit and please it, only to have it reciprocate maliciousness and violent intent,” the NESPR website explains.
The doll has long been kept at the Warrens’ Occult Museum in Monroe, Connecticut, now overseen by Tony Spera. The museum’s tours celebrate the Warrens’ work and present Annabelle “for those brave enough to face her.”
